Sharon Lutheran has been embarking on one of the most exciting journeys that anyone can experience! It is a trip into God’s Word starting January 1, 2010 and continuing through December 31,2010. The trip can be taken individually, as a couple, with family, or with friends. The “cost” of the trip is a pledge to read one story a week for 52 weeks. It begins with the Creation Story in Genesis and ends with a Vision of Heaven in Revelation.
Everyone will receive the “52 Weeks of Bible Stories” as an insert in the January edition of Sharon Lutheran Sharings . Copies will also be available at the church or online. The study will list 52 Bible stories including the Bible text, the key Bible verses, and some study questions. Some stories will be familiar to many while others will be unexplored territory along the journey. Either way, every story is a story of God’s love for the world and faithful, ordinary people just like us. This journey will help us to focus and reflect on our own faith stories. No special edition of the Bible is needed to do the study. Choose a Bible that is appropriate for you.
We encourage everyone to commit to taking this journey of engagement and conversation with scripture by reading, contemplating and discussing one Bible story each week for the coming year.
We believe that this 52 week glance into the Bible, the Book of Faith, will be a rewarding experience for all who participate. As we make the commitment to become more fluent in the first language of faith, God’s Word, all of us will become better equipped to live into our calling as people renewed, enlivened, and empowered and sent by the Word in our daily lives. We hope to see you all on the journey. It will be an exciting trip!
