Confirmation Information for 2007 - 2008 |

Confirmation Overview "Confirmation is a pastoral and educational ministry of the church which helps the baptized child through Word and Sacrament to identify more deeply with the Christian community and participate more fully in its mission." The Rite of Confirmation is the culmination of a structured gradual growth towards Christian maturity. The children of our congregation begin this program in Grade 3 and are confirmed in Grade 11. During these years the confirmation students, pastors and staff have opportunities to establish close relationships. The congregation is involved throughout the program in supporting and witnessing the rites of this program. Attendance at both worship and church school is regarded as an important part of the confirmation process at all grade levels. |

Information Meetings We do ask parents and families to make every effort to attend all the Information Meetings and Confirmation opportunities provided to families. While we understand the busy lives of all families, we work to provided you this information as far in advance as possible. Please mark your calendar and make this an important event in the faith life of your child. Many times the best way for us to communicate information to you is through our information meetings, attending those will give you the best opportunity to obtain information, ask questions and understand the schedules and events for the coming year. Kindergarten Kindergarten will participate in a Confirmation Learning Event on Sunday, December 10th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at CAFÉ. Students will attend this event with their parents and siblings. In the month of November, more information will be mailed directly to Kindergarteners and their families. First Graders 1st graderswill participate in a Confirmation Learning Event on Sunday, November 12th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at CAFÉ. Students will attend this event with their parents and siblings. In the month of October, more information will be mailed directly to 1st Graders and their families. Second Grade 2nd graders will participate in a Confirmation Learning Event on Sunday, January 14th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at CAFÉ. Students will attend this event with their parents and siblings. In the month of December, more information will be mailed directly to 2nd Graders and their families. Third Graders 3rd graders will participate in a Confirmation Learning Event on Sunday, October 8th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at CAFÉ. Students will attend this event with their parents and siblings. In the month of September, more information will be mailed directly to the 3rd Graders and their families. Bibles will be presented to 3rd Graders at all worship services on Sunday, October 15th and Wednesday October 18th. Fourth Graders 4th graders will be reading the Gospel of Mark. Students and parents will attend an information meeting held in the winter of 2007. More information will be directly mailed to 4th Graders and their families. |
Fifth Graders 5th graders will receive their First Communion on Maundy Thursday, April 5th. More information will be mailed directly to 5th Graders and their families in January 2007. Sixth Graders 6th graders will attend weekly Confirmation classes. Classes begin Wednesday, September 13th 7:15 – 8:15 p.m. Students and parents need to attend the information meeting on Wednesday, August 30th 7:30 p.m. Seventh Graders 7th graders will attend weekly Confirmation classes. Classes begin Wednesday, September 13th 7:15 – 8:15 p.m. Students and parents need to attend the information meeting on Wednesday, August 30th 7:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. for the General Confirmation meeting with other grades. Eight Graders 8th graders will attend weekly Confirmation classes. Classes begin Wednesday, September 13th 7:15 – 8:15 p.m. Students and parents need to attend the information meeting on Wednesday, August 30th 7:30 p.m. Ninth Graders 9th graders will attend weekly Confirmation classes. Classes begin Wednesday, September 13th 7:15 – 8:15 p.m. Students and parents need to attend the information meeting on Wednesday, August 30th 7:30 p.m. Tenth Graders 10th graders will participate in the Mentor Program. There will be an information meeting for students and parents held on Wednesday, August 23rd at 7:15 p.m. Eleventh Graders 11th graders will renew their Baptismal Promise on their Confirmation Day, Sunday October, 29th or Wednesday, Nov. 1st. An information meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 16th at 7:15 p.m. Parents and students should attend together. |
