| Golden Age Club Prayer Shawl Book Club Faith In Film |
After being forced to cancel last month due to March storms, the Golden Age Club will not let April showers or superstitions keep them from meeting on Friday the 13th of April. The gathering commences at 2:00 PM in the South Hall of the church. We will be entertained by the Twilighters Band, a quintet based out of Crookston that will share a variety of songs, hymns, and gospel songs to the accompaniment of guitars, harmonica, and mandolin. Vidette Knain and Ruby Sieg will provide the goodies. Another opportunity for those 55 or older is the Senior Citizen Prom, also on Friday, April 13th, from 7:30 9:30 PM at the Alerus Center Ballroom. Bring your dancing shoes because the theme is “Dancing Through the Times” with the Dick King Swing Band. The cost is FREE but you are encouraged to RSVP to 746-2407, ext. 803. This event is sponsored by T.E.A.R.S. and Calvary and Sharon Lutheran Churches. Prayer Shawl Ministry - A Stitch In Time Prayer shawl ministry is strong at Sharon Lutheran. This is the creation of special scarves or shawls for special times in people’s lives. They can be offered as comfort or in celebration or in recognition. Sometimes, prayer shawls are included in care baskets. It is an opportunity to spend time in fellowship and prayer. It is also a wonderful opportunity to learn or pass on the needlework traditions of knitting and crocheting. This group is open to all ages and we have yarn available for your use. This group meets monthly on the second Wednesday at 7:15pm and the following Thurs. at 10:00am. Sharon Lutheran Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. We share in conversation and reflection about the book we have read. How does this book speak of faith to us? What can we learn from it? What may have surprised us? What did we like? Dislike? Men and women high school age and older are invited. You may attend once or as many times as you wish. Here are the books selected for this coming program year: April 2007 The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey May 2007 All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque June 2007 Angels and Demons by Dan Brown July 2007 Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley If you have questions, contact Pastor Deanna. Attention all Young Adults (post-high school, 18 to 20 something): We are doing something different in April for our Young Adult Faith in Film. This month we will meet at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (319 5th St South) at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 10th to see the film, Kilowatt Ours, A Plan to Re-Energize America. This film is part of a lecture and film series hosted by St. Paul’s entitled, This Fragile Earth, Our Island Home. If you plan to attend you can either meet us at St. Paul’s or meet at Christus Rex (UND campus) no later than 6:45 pm to carpool over. Admission to this film is free and everyone is welcome! Hope to see you there. |
