Good News!

It is with great joy that my husband, Dave, and I announce that we are pregnant with twins. Our family will be doubling in size sometime in early October, and we look forward to introducing these two blessings to our church family. We ask for your continued prayers as we begin this new chapter in our lives. Peace & Joy, Kim Adams

Mission Possible

On Sunday, March 18 the youth of Sharon Lutheran made a bold decision. After much conversation about the financial crisis and all the realities about the congregation’s overwhelming support of youth ministry, the youth decided to return their support back to Sharon Lutheran Church and donate approximately $10,000 back to the general fund. The funds donated are those that have been raised through Lenten meals and Christmas wreath sales. The youth decided to reroute our summer senior high mission trip originally scheduled to Portland, OR to Minneapolis, MN, tentatively.

All the donations received through youth stock and youth dinner/auction event on March 25 will continue to support our two summer mission trips as well as various opportunities for youth. We will continue to raise the additional funds needed to make these amazing trips a reality.

There are many components to mission trips. One layer is the travel to and from the location -- in which we focus on team building and relationship. Another layer is in the work -- in which we are shaped from the physical act of the work we do as we strive to be the hands and feet of Christ. A third layer is the people -- in which we focus not on ourselves but the “other.” It is in this layer that we gain a larger understanding of humanity and God. A fourth layer is the physical location of the trip.

Given the decision of our youth, the component of the mission trip that has changed is the location. We will still travel together and build meaningful relationships. We will work and work and work! We will meet people from cultures different from our own. We will be the hands and feet of Christ.

Summer Bible Camp

There are a variety of camps in the area that offer many different weeks of camp for your child’s age group—please feel free to select the camp & week that works best in your summer schedule. Sharon has selected a week of camp at Camp Metigoshe for youth in grades 6-10 with transportation available. There will be information displayed during April that will highlight camps in the area for other age groups.

August 5-10 is Sharon’s week at Camp Metigoshe for youth in Grades 6-10! To make the registration process a bit easier for the camp, we are asking that registration be done directly with Metigoshe. You can pick up a registration form at Sharon or register online at www.metigosheministries.com. Be sure to list Sharon Lutheran as your home congregation. $10 saves you a spot on the bus...spots are limited to 45. You must sign-up in the youth ministry office for the bus.
