Sharon Lutheran Church: June 2007 Newsletter

Summer is here and it’s time to take advantage of summer activities. Let’s start with a summer potluck on Friday, June 8th at 12:30 pm in the church Fellowship Hall. Bring a dish to pass and a guest or two (we won’t pass the guests.) Then... we plan to go on an adventure by way of video. Through the video “Sea to Shining Sea” we will explore this grand nation and celebrate its beauty and uniqueness. Come on the 8th for a great afternoon and a grand kickoff to the summer!

Prayer shawl ministry is strong at Sharon Lutheran. This is the creation of special scarves or shawls for special times in people’s lives. They can be offered as comfort or in celebration or in recognition. Sometimes, prayer shawls are included in care baskets. It is an opportunity to spend time in fellowship and prayer. It is also a wonderful opportunity to learn or pass on the needlework traditions of knitting and crocheting. This group is open to all ages and we have yarn available for your use. This group meets monthly on the second Wednesday at 7:15pm and the following Thurs. at 10:00am.

Sharon Lutheran Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. We share in conversation and reflection about the book we have read. How does this book speak of faith to us? What can we learn from it? What may have surprised us? What did we like? Dislike? Men and women high school age and older are invited. You may attend once or as many times as you wish. Here are the books selected for this coming program year:

Sharon Lutheran has a volunteer list with each member’s name on one month during the year. In past years the list was published in the newsletter so members could see the month they were to volunteer. The list is no longer published in the newsletter but you may call the church office to find the month you are listed. The Board of Parish Fellowship uses this list to call volunteers to serve coffee & donuts on Sunday mornings. Please say “yes” when called to help serve. Thank you, Members of Parish Fellowship.

Sunday, June 24th @ 3:00 p.m. Join us for some fellowship and fun on the bike trails of Grand Forks. We will leave from the church at 3:00pm. We will plan our routes accordingly and meet back at the church for refreshments. Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex. All ages welcome!

Sharon Lutheran Annual Picnic. Sunday, July 1st 12 noon-3pm. Lincoln Drive Park. Shelter #3. Just North of Golf course on Lincoln Drive. Open to all members and friends of Sharon Lutheran. Planned activities! Drinks & Utensils provided. Potluck Picnic.
