Pastoral Call Process

Sharon Lutheran Church is eager to be moving forward in the process of calling a new lead pastor.

Following months of preparatory work by the Parish Planning Council and Board of Lay Ministry, a Call Committee was named in late September, 2009. Members are Jen Berger, Steve Burian, Teresa Dahlstrom, JoAnn Eslinger, Al Frederikson, Chris Green, Jeff Larson, Jan Nelson, Carolyn Tunseth, Karin Walton, and Fred Wittmann.

The Call Committee and Sharon's Parish Planning Council held a planning meeting with Eastern North Dakota Synod Bishop, Bill Rindy, in late October and the Call Committee members elected Fred Wittmann as their chair in November. An initial Call Committee working meeting was held in mid December. The pastoral call process will culminate when a candidate for a lead/administrative pastor is recommended to the members of Sharon Lutheran Church.

A Ministry Site Profile is now on file in the Eastern North Dakota Synod Office and available for potential pastoral candidates to review. Members of Sharon are encouraged take part in the call process by submitting names of potential pastoral candidates to the Call Committee.

Progress continues on Sharon's pastoral call process. Members of the Call Committee met with Eastern North Dakota Synod Bishop Bill Rindy in March. Revisions to the Lead/Senior Pastor's job description have been made with review and final approval by the Parish Planning Council being the next step. Sharon's Ministry Site Profile, our position posting on file with the E-ND Synod Office, has been updated and expanded. Members of Sharon are invited participate in the call process by suggesting names of potential pastoral candidates who may be a good fit for our church. Please fill out the form available at the Welcome Center or at the Church Office.
