Communion Servers Assist the pastor(s) in distribution of the bread and wine to each individual coming forward to commune. At least 2 people are needed for each communion station and there are at least two stations in each communion service. Currently, communion is offered at each fellowship hall service and the first and third Sundays in the sanctuary. Ushers Ushers are responsible for greeting and seating people, passing out bulletins, distributing and collecting offertory, directing people for communion, greeting people as they leave, and tidying the sanctuary or fellowship hall for the next service. 4 to 6 ushers are needed for each of 5 Sunday morning worship services. Readers Usually 2 lessons, a psalm, and a gospel text are read at each worship service. One reader is needed for each worship service. The reader is asked to come forward and read the lessons from the altar area. The full text, pronunciation keys, introductory remarks, and directions are provided to the reader a couple days before the worship service. Lay volunteers should be comfortable reading before the congregation. Nusery Assistants Sharon has a part time nursery director who is responsible for staffing the nursery during worship services. Volunteers assist in caring for the children. Members willing to help in this service area are required to be interviewed and consent to a screening process, conforming to Sharon’s Child Protection Policy. |
