Welcome to Sharon Lutheran Church

You are invited to join others

in a special Lenten journey!

With God as our guide and the book Water Marks by Diane L. Jacobson as our navigation tool, we will join one another in a time of reflection and discovery. The water and Word of Baptism marks each person as Christ’s own and encourages all to "listen to God’s Spirit speaking in your heart and experience."

All are encouraged to…

Read and pray through a Lenten discipline of devotions.

Share and learn with others each Sunday and Wednesday as we walk together in faith.

Gather with family and friends for a Lenten meal and midweek worship each Wednesday. The Lenten meal will be served in Celebra-tion Hall from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Worship will be in the Sanctuary at both 5:15pm (Holden Evening Prayer) and 6:30pm (Wednesday Music Leaders). Along with scripture-based messages about water marks, you will hear stories from lay people about their connections with water. You will also be invited to participate in fund-raising for the second annual Feed My Starving Children event.

Each Sunday morning during Lent there will be "Water Marks" conversation time at 10:20 am in the Sanctuary. There will be a similar conversation time each Wednesday at 7:30 pm following the Lenten service. Conversation will be led by a Pastor and will focus on the theme of the week for devotions and midweek worship. The first conversations will begin on Wednesday, February 22 (Ash Wednesday) and Sunday, February 26 (the Sunday after Ash Wednesday) and is themed "Water Marks God’s Creation". It is good to walk and talk with friends!

Using the book Lenten Journey Water Marks by Diane L. Jacobson, you at your own time and place can ponder God’s grace in your life. The books will be on sale for $10 each at the church office during the week or at the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings. There will also be a few copies for reading in the church library.

Beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 22, you are invited to a walk of faith with family and friends. You are invited to "hear and experience God’s water-marked Word in Old Testament stories of creation and re-demption, in the words of the prophets and prayers of the Psalms, in the stories of water in the lives of Christ’s disciples, and in the life of Christ, the source of living water." (from Water Marks)
