Interim Pastor

pastorkaren@sharonlutheran.org

Hello Sharon Lutheran! My name is Karen Young Trenne, and I am looking forward to serving Jesus together with all of you as your Interim Administrative Pastor. I am coming to you from the Fisher-Bygland Parish just south and east of East Grand Forks, where I have been Pastor for almost twelve years. Before that, I served with St. Mark’s Lutheran here in Grand Forks, where my family has lived since December 1998. My kids attended Viking Elementary, Schroeder Middle, and Red River High Schools. My son, Ben, lives in Lincoln, NE, and works as a biologist for the Nebraska Department of Transportation. My daughter, Rachel, lives in Minneapolis and works for the Boston Consulting Group. My husband, Paul, now serves with Our Savior’s Lutheran in East Grand Forks as Senior Pastor.

My first priority here at Sharon is to be your pastor during this interim period. We don’t know how long it will be, but I anticipate being with you until your next administrative pastor or pastoral team is called. The last few years have brought lots of changes in pastoral staff here at Sharon. I want to commend Deacon Jamie for his steadfast service during this time of transition and I am looking forward to working with him. We are also seeking another pastor to serve as associate on a term basis, meaning there will be a definite length of time on their call. This will allow Sharon to look to the future with open possibilities.

Your program and support staff have been working incredibly hard to keep ministry moving forward here at Sharon. Your board of directors and ministry teams have been doing the work of the faithful spoken about in the book of Acts. It is my intention to provide pastoral guidance and leadership support to all of them so the ministries can flourish. We will continue to monitor developments in the Covid-19 pandemic and any new guidance that may come to keep people safe. You will be kept informed about in-person worship, education, and gathering guidance.

Preaching the Word of God, baptizing new Christians, and feeding God’s people with the Bread of Life are central to my call as your Interim Administrative Pastor. I look forward to our time serving Jesus together!
