Middle School & High School Ministries

Confirmation Learning

We offer Confirmation classes for grades 6-9 on Wednesday evenings from 7:15-8:15pm. Students spend their 10th grade year with an adult mentor and are confirmed in the fall of 11th grade. Register online for Church School & Confirmation.

10th grade mentor year

In their 10th Grade year, students choose a mentor to walk alongside them in this period of their faith journey. Through scheduled events, learning opportunities, and  one-on-one conversations students shift their focus to a more practical and personal application of their faith. This year enables students to prepare for the promises they will make as they affirm their Baptisms the fall of their 11th grade year.

10th grade students, mentors, and parents should make every effort to attend confirmation stole making on Sunday, May 15 at 6:00pm in South Hall.  This is the only scheduled time for stole making.  If you are unable to make it, please contact Steve to arrange a time when you are able to come to the church.

Milestone Ministries

We will be hosting Milestone Ministries events for each age/grade level. These may take place via Zoom, or if CDC, County, and City guidelines permit, we may host these as in-person sessions in small groups (socially distant, with masks required and families seated around tables). Please follow the link below and register your learner(s) on the appropriate sign-up. Reminders and other details will be emailed closer to the events.

Youth Groups

4G is a weekly gathering of young people in grades 6-8 on Wednesdays from 8:15 - 9:00 p.m. in the lower level youth room.  We will play games, eat, have fun, and grapple with questions middle schoolers ask about family, friends, and faith.

Bring your friends and take the 4G Challenge!!

Weekly High School Youth Group meets Wednesday nights 8:15-9:30 p.m. in the upstairs youth lounge called the “TP”. This time is designed for you to get together with your friends, hang out, share conversations, grow in your faith, share food and laughs, and support each other in challenges you may face during your week.

Uniquely You & Bible Bros

Uniquely You is a high school girls group and Bible Bros is a high school guys group. The goal of these groups is to allow time for real faith conversations and support. Contact FFM staff for more information.

Events / Retreats

Castaway Retreats

Usually held at the end of September, this retreat is a gathering across our Synod with High School students from Fargo to Devils Lake, Grafton to Wahpeton attending this weekend. It is filled with the music our youth love, worship in camp/praise style, learning, free time, and more. A registration form is available at the office and more information will be sent directly to students/parents.

Bible Camp is a wonderful opportunity for youth to spend time together outdoors in God’s wonderful creation and learn and grow in their faith.  Come spend a week as a camper with Steve and some of our High School students.  Steve is leading a trip to Red Willow from July 17-22.  Sharon Lutheran is providing this week of High School Camp for $180 per student.  This is open to current 9th-12th grade students.

If you would like to attend, please email Steve at sdekrey@sharonlutheran.org, call the church office, or come see Steve in person.

If any of our young people from Sharon Lutheran are looking for a great summer job, you should definitely check out Red Willow Bible Camp as well.  Check out their website at www.redwillowministries.com to apply.

All students in grades 9-12 are invited to join us at Sharon Lutheran on Friday, May 20 from 5-10pm for a High School late night.  There will be pizza, games, and a movie.  If you plan to attend, please contact Steve so that food can be planned accordingly.

There will be a middle school mission trip commissioning service on Wednesday, May 25 at 6:00pm in Celebration Hall, complete with Dinner Church!  We will enjoy a meal while we bless our trip participants and their leaders, hear more about where they are headed and what they will be doing, and experience the theme of "FOR REAL:" "Let love be geniune." (Romans 12:9a)

A final trip meeting for all participants and their guardians will be held in South Hall after worship that evening (May 25).

Faith Formation Ministries recognizes that the seed of faith starts at birth and it is our covenant to grow and nurture that faith
by building relationships with our young people, by supporting young people's relationships with God, by living one’s faith through
mission and service, and by experiencing faith as a vibrant and compassionate way to live life connected to God and others.
