Let our light so shine!
Look for the poster in the narthex!
The Properties Team is having a fundraiser to upgrade the canister lighting in our building. Each light costs $150. If you wish to brighten our church home, gifts can be designated to Property Team Lighting. For every $150 raised, a light will be added to the chandelier.
You do not have to give increments of $150! Every dollar counts! Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase 70 lights. At the time of publication, we have raised enough money to purchase 30 lights.
If you’d like to see what the new canister lights will look like, please stop by the north bathrooms (near Door 4). There are three new lights above the water fountain.

Northlands Rescue Mission Cookout

May 20, 2025 - The Anxious Generation By Jonathan HaidtIn The Anxious Generation, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt lays out the facts about the epidemic of teen mental illness that hit many countries at the same time. He then investigates the nature of childhood, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent, thriving adults. Haidt shows how the “play-based childhood” began to decline in the 1980s, and how it was finally wiped out by the arrival of the “phone-based childhood” in the early 2010s. He presents more than a dozen mechanisms by which this “great rewiring of childhood” has interfered with children’s social and neurological development, covering everything from sleep deprivation to attention fragmentation, addiction, loneliness, social contagion, social comparison, and perfectionism. He explains why social media damages girls more than boys and why boys have been withdrawing from the real world into the virtual world, with disastrous consequences for themselves, their families, and their societies
Summer Read for September 2025 - The Hour I First Believed by Wally LambIn The Hour I First Believed, Lamb travels well beyond his earlier work and embodies in his fiction myth, psychology, family history stretching back many generations, and the questions of faith that lie at the heart of everyday life. The result is an extraordinary tour de force, at once a meditation on the human condition and an unflinching yet compassionate evocation of character. When forty-seven-year-old high school teacher Caelum Quirk and his younger wife, Maureen, a school nurse, move to Littleton, Colorado, they both get jobs at Columbine High School. In April 1999, Caelum returns home to Three Rivers, Connecticut, to be with his aunt who has just had a stroke. But Maureen finds herself in the school library at Columbine, cowering in a cabinet and expecting to be killed, as two vengeful students go on a carefully premeditated, murderous rampage.
